Wireless Field Technician Job Description

Field Technicians are the face of KwiKom and are required to have excellent customer service skills paired with technical ability. This position requires completing customer installations, service calls, on-site troubleshooting, and equipment recovery. Work is performed on site at customer locations both with a physical aspect of installing Internet equipment, as well as a technical portion. Wireless Field Technician help to install and maintain the infrastructure supporting wireless communications systems. Wireless communications systems encompass wireless Internet access, satellite systems, and related equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Perform new installation or disconnection of wireless internet service at customer locations.
  • Carry out periodic work to maintain the wireless networks.
  • Travel on site to customer location to troubleshoot, assist and resolve problems.
  • Maintain inventory of necessary materials and tools for company vehicles.
  • Recognize, practice, and ensure safety rules and procedures.
  • Keep company vehicle in clean, professional appearance.
  • Assist in determining locations to be able to expand service.
  • Hand out Marketing Material, and willingly promote KwiKom

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent verbal communications and interpersonal skills

  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Familiar with electronics, digital radio technology, and cellular systems
  • Ability to use measuring and diagnostic tools to test, adjust, and repair electronic equipment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-change environment while managing multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.
  • Must demonstrate accountability in order to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, using sound judgement principles.
  • Must be professional in dress, speech, and manner
  • Must be willing to learn new technologies
  • Must be able to safely use ladders and be comfortable working on roofs and running cables to different parts of the building

Work Environment

This position requires travel to various locations and routinely uses a variety of equipment and tools relating to electronics, digital radio technology, cellular systems, wireless, and fiber.

Generally, working hours are from 7:30AM—6:00PM 4 days per week, 10 hours per day. However, applicants must be willing and able to:

  • Must be able to work some overtime as needed and/or without advance notice
  • Predominately outside, year round
  • Ability to carry and climb 75 lb. ladder and climb customer owned TV towers
  • Must be able to work some overtime as needed and/or without advance notice

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Familiar with electronics, digital radio technology, and cellular systems
  • Ability to use measuring and diagnostic tools to test, adjust, and repair electronic equipment
  • Must live in geographical area you will be servicing/assigned to
