At KWIKOM, we don’t think the view you have out your window should determine the level of technology you get. That’s why we love partnering with cities like Edgerton to be the first to bring fiber Internet to homes and businesses! We believe everybody, no matter where you live, should have access to the latest and greatest technology.
We celebrated our official groundbreaking last Thursday with Edgerton Mayor Donald Roberts and President Mike Brigman talking about the importance of bridging the digital divide for towns like Edgerton (and Mayor Roberts kindly telling us he would like his fiber Internet sooner than later!)
We hear you Mayor Roberts! Our crews are working as fast as they can to build nearly 8 miles of fiber-optic backbone so we can bring state-of-the-art Internet, phone and video technologies to Edgerton. We appreciate the warm welcome and we can’t wait to serve you!
KWIKOM had a great time at our ribbon cutting ceremony this morning to officially celebrate the availability of fiber Internet in North Paola. KWIKOM officially broke ground today on a state-of-the-art fiber network that will bring ultra high-speed fiber Internet services to over 650 residents and businesses in Edgerton, Kansas! Construction will continue expanding at a rapid pace in the weeks and months to come, with services anticipated to be available Spring of 2024.
KWIKOM has been providing Internet services in Johnson County for nearly a decade, and providing Internet services to rural Kansas customers since 2004. We appreciate and value the relationships we’ve built with the residents, businesses and leaders in Edgerton over the years as we’ve grown our broadband services throughout the City and surrounding rural areas. And we look forward to building on those relationships as we bring even more advanced, faster and reliable Internet service to Edgerton!
Edgerton residents will be able to receive up to 2 Gbps (and businesses up to 10 Gbps) of symmetrical Internet speed, as well as an array of phone and video services. And with a state-of-the-art 100 Gbps backbone design, this network is future-proof and allows us to scale up quickly to support the growing needs and bandwidth demands of the future.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our friends and customers in the Edgerton community for your long-standing support for our mission. Please say hello to our employees and contractors as they work throughout Edgerton– and stay tuned for future construction updates as we get closer to our official launch date!
KWIKOM’s fiber-optic expansion project in Wellsville is a focused part of our ongoing efforts to connect Franklin County, Kansas with high-quality, affordable fiber-optic Internet services. KWIKOM’s nearly 12 million dollar investment in Franklin County will deliver over 138 miles of fiber to every home and business in Wellsville, Ottawa, Pomona, and Williamsburg, as well as much of the surrounding rural community.
And construction is moving fast! KWIKOM will offer symmetrical broadband packages ranging from 100 Mbps to 2 Gbps for residents and up to 10 Gbps for businesses in addition to an array of phone and video options. Businesses and anchor institutions will also have access to customizable Dedicated Internet Access packages across our resilient and highly redundant fiber-optic network.
KWIKOM plans to complete construction and be offering services to customers in Wellsville by the end of the year.
Interested customers can pre-sign-up for services and to receive construction updates at www.KWIKOM.com/preorder.
KWIKOM continued its exciting expansion plans last week by hosting an official groundbreaking for Linn County, KS.
KWIKOM President and Founder Zach Peres was joined by Linn County Commission Chair Danny McCullough, and KWIKOM Director of Government Affairs John Terry at the Linn County Courthouse in Mound City to mark the occasion. Representatives from the City of Blue Mound, the City of Parker, and the Linn County Journal were also on hand to celebrate Linn County’s partnership with KWIKOM to develop over 40 miles of new fiber-optic infrastructure in Western Linn County. When completed, the project will deliver 10 gigabit capable fiber-optic internet and a scalable fiber backbone that can be expanded upon to meet future broadband demands in rural Linn County.
Construction in Linn County is actively underway between Greeley and Parker, and much of Parker already has fiber in the ground.
According to John Terry, “We truly appreciate the efforts of Linn County in addressing the critical need for broadband, and we share the belief that the choice to live and work in rural Kansas should not mean being shut out from quality internet access. We look forward to working with Linn County on future Grant projects, and there are several on the near horizon.”
While this project provides an excellent start, KWIKOM recognizes the need for further expansion to bring fiber to additional parts of Linn County. In fact, as part of the Kansas Office of Broadband Development LINC project, KWIKOM applied for a middle mile extension that will increase the fiber backbone from Blue Mound to the Anderson County line along K-31. Should this grant succeed, it would allow KWIKOM to build upon this excellent foundation to eventually serve all of Western Linn County.
KWIKOM has been actively providing broadband wireless Internet in Linn County since 2017 and has continued to invest in the County as the demand for services grows in areas that are traditionally overlooked and underserved. Additionally, as a participant in the Federal Affordable Connectivity Program, KWIKOM will offer discounted internet to qualified applicants, providing substantial savings to those most in need.
$12 million dollar fiber investment will bring state-of-the-art telecom services to over 7,200 homes and businesses in Ottawa, Wellsville, Pomona, Williamsburg and surrounding areas
As part of KWIKOM’s longstanding commitment to deliver affordable, reliable broadband connectivity in Franklin County, Kansas, we are pleased to announce that construction of a state-of-the-art fiber network is underway in Ottawa and Wellsville, and will soon begin in Williamsburg and Homewood.
In addition, through a partnership with the State of Kansas Office of Broadband Development, The City of Pomona, the City of Quenemo, and the Franklin County Development Council, construction is in progress to bring fiber to Pomona, Quenemo, and over 20 square miles of rural area between Ottawa and Quenemo.
KWIKOM’s fiber-optic expansion project in Franklin County is a focused part of our ongoing efforts to connect our friends and neighbors throughout Kansas with high quality, affordable fiber-optic internet. KWIKOM began its investment in Franklin County a decade ago to help bridge the digital divide for the historically underserved, and to ensure Franklin County has a network that is technically capable of meeting the present and future technology needs of its residents and businesses.
“Broadband access is essential in today’s digital age, serving as the backbone of economic growth and community development,” said Ryland Miller, President & CEO of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce. “KWIKOM’s initiative promises to invigorate our local economy, boost our businesses and enhance the quality of life of our citizens. Broadband expansion is a game-changer and a signal to the region that Ottawa is primed for growth.”
KWIKOM’s nearly $12 million dollar capital investment in Franklin County will provide almost 200 miles of fiber-optic infrastructure to connect over 7,200 homes, businesses, anchor institutions, and agricultural facilities in the County. This expansion will fully serve every home in Ottawa, Wellsville, Pomona, and Williamsburg as well as much of the surrounding rural community.
KWIKOM will offer symmetrical broadband packages ranging from 100 Mbps to 2 Gbps for residents and up to 10 Gbps for businesses, with customizable, DIA packages available to businesses and anchor institutions.
“We appreciate and value the relationships we have developed with the residents, businesses, and leaders in Franklin County over the past decade as we have grown our broadband service throughout the County. We are excited to bring fiber Internet service along with the quality local customer service, technical support, and professional installation our Franklin County customers and partners have come to expect from us,” said Zach Peres, KWIKOM’s President and Founder. “We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our employees, friends, and customers in Franklin County for your support now, and over the last ten years.”
According to Mike Brigman, President of WANRack, KWIKOM’s parent company, “I applaud the work of Zach Peres and the entire KWIKOM team in working alongside community leaders to address their broadband needs and to bring high speed internet access to residents and businesses across the County. The team is working diligently to begin providing services to residents and business before the end of 2023.”
